Peter Davies: Peter joined Lansdowne Partners in June 2001 and is head of the Developed Markets Strategy. Prior to joining Lansdowne, Peter was a Director at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM, previously Mercury Asset Management). Peter joined MLIM in 1993.
Peter is a former governor of the Wellcome Trust and co-founded Oxford Sciences Enterprises (OSE), a company that invests in, develops and advises spin-out companies established to commercialise intellectual property developed by Oxford University. Funds in the Lansdowne Developed Markets Strategy hold shares in OSE. Peter is non-executive director of Nattergal Limited, an investment held by Lansdowne Developed Markets Opportunities Fund. Peter Davies is also senior author of the published article ‘Sports balls as potential SARS-CoV-2 transmission vectors’ in the Public health practice (PubMed, nih.gov).
Peter has a first-class honours degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University.
Eli Krieger: Eli joined Lansdowne Partners in September 2019, having previously worked as a consumer analyst at Citadel Global Equities. Prior to joining Citadel in April 2018, Eli worked at Citigroup as an equity research associate. Eli received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from UCL.
Lansdowne Partners were the earliest financial investors in RaspberryPi in 2019 and subsequently supported the IPO in 2024.
Eben Upton – Raspberry Pi, Founder/CEO
Raspberry Pi is a global leader in low-cost compute and IoT solutions. Based in Cambridge and manufactured in Wales, the company has sold over 70 million compute modules to date. The main end customer is OEMs, and key geographic markets include Germany, USA and China.Eben started his career at Broadcom as an ASIC architect and moved on to found RaspberryPi where he built up the IP and the subsequent unique brand following. Through his leadership, the company has grown considerably – achieving a successful IPO on the LSE in 2024.
Lansdowne Partners backed the Seed round of Helsing and supported subsequently alongside Daniel Ek.
Torsten Reil – Helsing, Founder/CEO
Helsing is a Defence Tech company committed to protecting democracies with technology. Helsing holds the current record for funding among European DefenceTech companies.Torsten initially founded Oxford-based gaming company NaturalMotion, which was sold to Zynga in 2014. Torsten founded Helsing in 2021, initially with backing from Lansdowne Partners and, subsequently, Daniel Ek. The company was quick to compete with the major primes, winning significant contracts. Most recently the company has been valued at €5 billion with participation from Accel, Lightspeed and General Catalyst.
Lansdowne seeded Nattergal and subsequently supported through Series A. Peter Davies remains on the board.
Nattergal is a world-leader in biodiversity solutions. As public awareness and regulation starts to accelerate corporate engagement, Nattergal are creating solutions that can scale to meet this large problem. The company recently entered a partnership with major homebuilder Bellway.
Charlie Burrell – Nattergal, Chairman
Charlie is a pioneer in the field of biodiversity, starting in 2001 with the rewilding of the Knepp Estate which became famous for supporting the recovery of a number of threatened species. With over 20 years of experience, this team has amassed material expertise and data throughout the rewilding process. Charlie is Chairman of Nattergal, Chair of Carpathia and Vice Chair of RePlanet. Charlie previously chaired Rewilding Britain and remains on the Supervisory Board of Rewilding Europe.
Archie Struthers – Nattergal, CEO
Archie has two decades of executive leadership experience, with senior roles in large investment management companies such as Blackrock and Standard Life/Aberdeen. Archie brings a creative commercial expertise in combination with his passion for nature to construct the infrastructure of this early market.
Lansdowne invested in Oxford Ionics in 2022. Lansdowne are also a founding investor in OSE, which was an early backer of Oxford Ionics as well.
Chris Balance – Oxford Ionics, Founder/CEO
Oxford Ionics is a quantum computing company which currently holds the world record in quantum chip quality (two qubit gate fidelity), a core metric key to scaling the idea of quantum computing. The company has won several large competitive state-level tenders in the UK, Germany and most recently with DARPA in the USA.Chris earned his PhD in Oxford University, where his research achieved a number of world records in the quantum field, including for quantum gate speeds and quantum networking. Chris founded Oxford Ionics in 2019 and has led the company through material investment rounds whilst developing a market-leading technical roadmap.
Lansdowne invested in the Genomics raise in 2021. Lansdowne are also a founding investor in IP Group, which was an earlier backer of Genomics.
Dr Seamus Harrison – Genomics PLC, Head of Medical
Genomics is a company applying genomics to disease prevention. The company has the world-leading suite of PRS models that can predict disease prevalence from the genomic make-up of any individual. Genomics have partnered with health insurers such as Mass Mutual and BUPA to support anonymised disease prevention for existing policy holders. The company has also established a partnership with Vertex for precision medicine.Seamus leads the medical team and has been deeply involved across all commercial activities. Seamus is an expert in clinical medicine and was previously a consultant vascular surgeon and a Senior Scientist in the BHF centre in Cambridge University.
Lansdowne invested in MoA in 2022. Lansdowne was also a founding investor in OSE and IP Group, both earlier supporters of MoA.
Virginia Corless – MoA Technologies, CEO
MoA is an AgTech company that has developed a novel platform for screening and developing herbicide molecules with greater throughput, accuracy and cost. This is a $40 billion industry, and the company has achieved technical success through a commercial deal with NuFarm to co-develop novel molecules. In 2024, MoA has broke industry records in field trials, demonstrating world leading efficacy for new products.Virginia has held numerous senior roles in the AgTech industry and was a science policy fellow in the US Senate. Under Virginia’s leadership, the company has closed material funding rounds and expanded its commercial program for its growing catalogue of lead molecules.
Lansdowne were the earliest institutional investor in TechMet in 2019.
Brian Menell – TechMet, Founder / CEO / Chairman
TechMet is a company committed to addressing the emerging need for critical minerals supply and technologies required to support the decarbonisation of the economy at large. The company was among the first efforts at scale to address this issue, which has continued to gather momentum as the broader market considers supply and security dynamics for critical inputs.Brian has held senior executive positions in the mining industry, including De Beers, Anglovaal and Kemet. In 2017, Brian founded TechMet and most recently achieved a significant fundraise valuing the company at over $1 billion. Significant investors now include the US International Development Finance Corporation, Mercuria and QIA.
